Noir Magazine (PDF) - This is a course project that required using InDesign to create a mock-up of the cover and the first few pages of a magazine. I created the entire look of the magazine from scratch, using my own photos and text. In order to fill out each page with content, I also condensed some online articles I found to fit onto the page.

Volunteer Manual - Care of Nestlings and Fledglings: A Quick Reference Guide (PDF)

As part of a group assignment for a technical writing course, my group and I edited and re-wrote a text-only volunteer manual in MS Word to create these two user-friendly manuals, which include diagrams, useful pictures, term definitions, and several other features.

Big Louie's Gourmet Pizza ad (PDF) - This is a mock-up advertisement for a fictional pizza parlor. I designed it for a course assignment that involved creating a black and white advertisement to fit in a typical newspaper’s ad section. I decided to keep the advertisement as elegantly simple as possible, creating and illustrating the character of “Big Louie” as a pizza-headed 1930s-type gangster.

The 26th Annual Western Magazine Awards (PDF) - This is an advertisement I created using Adobe Illustrator CS3 for the Western Magazine Awards Foundation to announce its 26th annual awards ceremonies for 2008. It appeared in Masthead magazine.

KaiJansson.com - I designed this web site, which I use as my online portfolio, in small stages over several months using both Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 and tag coding. The look of the site came about through tinkering and re-tinkering with the HTML code until I was happy with the result.
